Biphobia is, in my own opinion, when someone says that they dislike bisexuals period. Dating preferences is different. I don’t mind elderly people, in fact I find many of them pretty damn nice, but would I date them? No. It’s like the girls’ preferences on dating. Sadly, it sucks so much to be denied because of that, but it’s their issue, and that doesn’t mean it’s yours too; being bi is totally normal, as is being attracted to who you’re attracted to.
I know a lot of people who say differently, that the reasons for those girls’ preferences of dating do not include bi girls is discriminatory and that it is biphobia. But the fact of the matter is, outside of dating, would they be hateful towards any bisexual person in general, we don’t know. It can be possible that one or a few of those girls is actually biphobic, but can we judge just from them describing their dating preferences? That we cannot.
I will say it wasn’t surprising to hear many of those girls say they wouldn’t date a bi girl, because it happens a HELL of a lot. What I do have to say is that, no matter if you’re gay or straight or bi: if you’re worried about your partner cheating, your partner doesn’t have to be bi to act on it, and if you’re worried about getting your heart broken, your partner doesn’t have to be bi to break it. Gay, straight, bi, trans, pan, etc…we’re all human, and shit happens, because nobody of either orientation is safe from bad things happening. Capiche?
